Completed Training of Classroom Teachers within the “21st Century Schools” Project
Over 450 classroom teachers have completed the training for the use of micro:bit devices within the teaching topic Algorithmic Way of Thinking included in the subject Digital World

For the first time, the Petlja Foundation, in cooperation with the British Council, created and implemented training for classroom teachers focused on the application of micro: bits within the subject Digital World and its teaching topic Algorithmic Way of Thinking.
We remind you that last year, Petlja’s team of authors created two free, interactive manuals for the use of micro:bit devices within the part of the curriculum related to project teaching in lower grades, namely:
Programming Micro:bit Devices in MakeCode – Manual with Elementary Level Project Examples
Programming Micro:bit Devices in MakeCode – Manual with Advanced Level Project Examples
Based on the created manuals, and following the official curriculum, a hybrid type of training was created, which meant that the first part of the training was held on the petlja.org portal, and when the online part of the training was over, there was one more day of training held in person, where the focus was on the students' practical work on projects. The training was accredited and it carried 16 professional development points.
During the entire training, the teachers had mentor support assisting them in understanding the material and applying the acquired knowledge.
The goal of this training was for classroom teachers to achieve higher levels of digital competence necessary for the implementation of the teaching topic Algorithmic Way of Thinking included in the subject Digital World, with the use of micro:bit devices.
These training courses were organized within the framework of phase two of the “21st Century Schools” project, implemented and financed by the British Council and supported by the Ministry of Education, in which the Petlja Foundation is one of the partners. This project aims to improve education through modernization of the teaching process and application of modern technologies.
We remind you that during the first phase of the “21st Century Schools” project, the team of authors of the Petlja Foundation, in addition to various training courses for subject teachers, also created 3 manuals with numerous examples of the use of micro:bit devices in the teaching of Informatics and Computing and Techniques and Technology.
All manuals follow the official curriculum, they are free, and they can be found at the following link: https://petlja.org/projekti/British
